Santa Cruz de la Sierra – San Miguel de Tucumán
I leave the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia and cross the border with Argentina as I fly along the foothills of the Andes. It is the eighth largest country in the world, the fourth largest on the American continent and the largest Spanish-speaking country on the planet. It has the second largest economy in South America and the second highest quality of life. The territory of Argentina has been strongly influenced culturally by Spanish colonisation, which began in the 16th century, but also by subsequent waves of migration from Europe, particularly from Italy.
Landing takes place at the fog-shrouded Teniente Benjamin Matienzo International Airport.
