Kulusuk – Nuuk
The planned relatively long route passes through a part of the world’s largest island, frosty Greenland, which is an autonomous part of Denmark. After refuelling and checking the plane, I take off and slowly climb over an endless glacier where any serious problem with the plane and a forced emergency landing would mean almost certain death. For most of the flight, there is nothing more to see than the inhospitable ice-covered landscape, which only changes as I approach the capital city of Greenland, Nuuk, home to just under 18,000 people.
