Cancún – Mexico City
🌎 Countries along the route
🇲🇽 Mexico
- Departure from Cancún Airport (MMUN) with views of the turquoise sea and Nichupté Lagoon.
- The route first heads west and slightly south – the goal being to pass over the central part of the Yucatán Peninsula.
- Chichén Itzá – the famous Maya city with the pyramid of El Castillo. From above, the circular layout of the complex in the middle of the forest is visible.
🏞️ Calakmul Biosphere Reserve – dense, uninhabited jungle hiding the second largest Maya city. From the air, you can spot pyramids protruding above the treetops.
- Puebla and Popocatépetl Volcano – a dramatic landscape change. In the distance, the massive Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes rise (both over 5,400 m).
🏙️ Mexico City (MMMX) – the end of the flight brings a sharp contrast: a vast urbanized valley with 22 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area.
