Iquique – Arica
I’m leaving Iquique for the next leg of my journey, this time towards the city of Arica. During the flight I am taking a detour back to Bolivia over Salar de Uyuni.
Salar de Uyuni is a unique salt flat located in Bolivia. This magnificent natural phenomenon is one of the largest salt flats in the world and covers an area of almost 11,000 square kilometres. During the rainy season, this area transforms into a vast expanse of water, creating an optical illusion where the sky and the land merge into one.
After flying over the Salar de Uyuni, I return to Chile to city of Arica, where I land.
- Distance: 548.2 km
- Total distance: 26 028.1 km
- Flight time: 2 hours 13 minutes
- Total flight time: 90 hours and 17 minutes

The good thing with virtual flying is that you can’t just get stuck somewhere due to technical or logistical issues. Been reading a real life “around the world” report yesterday, and its pilots had to stay on the Easter Island for nearly a month as they’d been sent the wrong fuel and service equipment.
I need to check out those salt flats. Are they displayed correctly without extra scenery mods?
Yeah, it also eliminates the incredible amount of paperwork that is involved with such a flight. And a lot of other inconveniences, whether it’s just going to the bathroom during the flight.
As it is shown in the screenshots it is in a game without mod. From a high altitude it’s quite good, on a closer look not so much. It looks more like a snowy place 🙂
