Kuujjuaq – Rivière-du-Loup

The flight starts at the airport near Kuujjuaq. An interesting fact about this town is that the first Europeans to have contact with the local Inuit were missionaries from the Moravian Church. But they didn’t stay too long. And I’m not staying long either, taking off and escaping the incoming clouds. The flight is over the Canadian wilderness of the Labrador Peninsula, where the landscape of a thousand lakes alternates with a landscape of dense forests. I continue over the Gulf of St Lawrence, the mouth of the St Lawrence River into the Atlantic Ocean and the largest funnel-shaped estuary in the world. After crossing the river, it’s clear I’m leaving the wilderness. There are more inhabited areas and cultivated fields. I end the first flight in which I have crossed 1 000 km in a straight line with the plane, landing with strong crosswinds at Rivière-du-Loup airport with a reserve of fuel for approximately 2 more hours of flight.
