Kill Devil Hills – Orangeburg

There has been no shortage of places of interest during the last few flights. Not much to see on this flight along the North Carolina coast and through parts of South Carolina, except for some nice beaches. Noteworthy is Cape Point, near which the Gulf Stream and Labrador Current mix. The mixing of nutrients from these currents attracts many species of ocean fish to the area, making it a very popular spot for fishermen. Of additional note is Lake Marion, a man-made lake created by damming the Santee River, one of the fifty largest lakes in the United States. Bypassing this lake and landing at Orangeburg Municipal Airport, where I end this trip.
